Retired Truck Driver

Donald H. Manchester, Jr., 76, recently of Norton and a former longtime resident of Framingham died on Saturday December 9, 2006 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. He was the beloved husband of Hilda R. (Allen) Manchester to whom he was wed to for the past 36 years.
Born in Milton, MA on November 15, 1930 he was a dear son of the late Donald H. and Phylis (Tuck) Manchester, Sr.
He was educated in Milton schools. He served in The United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. Mr. Manchester was a retired Truck Driver, having worked for the Continental Bakery Co. in Natick for 31 years before retiring.
Don was a life member of The American Legion Post #77 in Ashland. When he was younger he was a professional Candlepin Bowler. He was an avid reader and enjoyed the wonderful times spent with his loving family. He had lived in Norton for the past 2 months and was formerly of Framingham for many years.
In addition to his beloved wife Hilda he is survived by his devoted children; Marsha Gosselin of Wyoming, Richard Manchester of New Hampshire, David Manchester of Bellingham, Michell Eskeli of Blackstone, Denise Manchester of Franklin, MA, Sandra Scanlon of Milford, Robert McAvoy of Norton, Patrick McAvoy of Millis and Alan McAvoy of Georgia. His sister; Alice Ferris of Arkansas. He is also survived over 2 dozen grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
Memorial services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday January 6, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. in the Slatersville Congregational Church (On the Common) in Slatersvile, Rhode Island. Burial will be private.
