Obituary

Joseph Celino, of Ft. Pierce, Florida, formerly of Medford and Boston’s West End, died Sunday, December 3rd in Florida. He was 89.


Born and raised in Boston’s West End, he was the son of the late Vitale and the late Domenica (Occhiapinti) Celino. Joe served in the Army during World War II. Upon his return, he operated a pushcart in Boston’s Haymarket, selling green beans. It was there he earned his nickname “Joe Beans”. A disabled veteran, he was a member of the DAV in Florida, where he and his wife have lived for the past 25 years. Previously, Joe lived in the West End, Medford and Braintree.


He was the beloved husband of Frances (Spinale) Celino. He was a devoted father of Marie Celino of Beverly, Joanne DeGregorio and her husband James of Plymouth. He was the dear grandfather of Gina DeGregorio.


His Funeral will be Tuesday from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, at 9 AM with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, Medford. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4 thru 8.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a Hospice of One´s choice.
