Fall River - Antone “Tony” Rodrigues, 81, of Westport passed away Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Marilyn J. (Kinnane) Deus Rodrigues and the late Hilda (King) Rodrigues.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Zulmiro and Ermelinda (Barbosa) Rodrigues, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. A WWII veteran, he served his country in the United States Navy. Prior to his retirement, he was an electrician for the I.B.E.W. local # 1499. He was a communicant of St. George Church, Westport. Mr. Rodrigues was a member of the V.F.W. Ouellette Post 8502 of Westport, Westport American Legion 145, where he was a past district commander and was a former president of the Westport Federal Credit Union.
Including his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters: Ethel Rodrigues of Dartmouth and Karen Almeida and her husband Carlos of Westport; 2 brothers: Joseph Rodrigues of Dartmouth and Francis Rodrigues of Meriden, CT; 2 sisters: Almerinda “Mena” Tenchara of Westport and Beatrice Harrison of Westport; a step-son: Kevin Deus of Tiverton, RI; 2 step-grandchildren: Michael Deus of Westport and Haily Deus of Westport and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late: John, Joaquim, George and Albert Rodrigues and Helena Tripp.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, December 12, 2006 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Monday 4 - 8 P.M.
Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
