WORCESTER-David A. Shea, 49 of Worcester died Thursday, Dec. 7 . He leaves his mother, Mary E. (Donahue) Shea, three children, Elise M., Tara E., Patrick H.D. Shea and his former wife, Barbara (Mahoney) Shea, all of Worcester, a brother, Mark T. Shea of Worcester, a sister, Laureen, wife of Doug Chiras of Madison, NH, and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
David was born in Miami, FL and was the son of David A. Shea who predeceased him. He was a graduate of Saint John's High School and The College of the Holy Cross and held a Masters of Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
His last place of employment was as a Librarian at Mass General Hospital in Boston. Prior to that he worked as the Science Librarian at Williams College and the Science Librarian at Kenyon College in Gambier, OH. David was an avid Patriots and Celtics fan as well as a fan of all sports at Chapel Hill, where he played intramural hockey. Tennis, music, hiking and golf were among his favorite interests. Most of all, he loved spending time with his three children of whom he was most proud.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
