A Funeral Service will be held in the First Congregational Church of Marshfield on Friday at 10:00 AM.
Visiting hours at the MacDonald Funeral Home 1755 Ocean St (Rte 139) Marshfield Thursday 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
Private interment will be in the Milton Cemetery.

Obituary Information
Hildegarde “Hilda” L. Schan of Marshfield, died at the age of 107, on Monday, December 4th at Southwood Nursing Home in Norwell, MA. Born, to Swedish immigrant parents Carl and Charlotta Anderson, on January 13, 1899, she was raised in Bronx, NY. During World War I, at the age of 18, Hilda relocated to Washington, DC to assist in a federal engineering office. Vacationing in 1922, on Highland Lake in upstate New York, it was there she met her husband, the late Edwin J. Schan, later to be wed in 1927. Traveling around the country, following her husband’s job as an engineer, they returned to Brooklyn, NY where soon after their only child Joan was born in 1932. In 1935, Hilda and family relocated to Milton, MA where she would remain until 1980.
Hilda was a long-term resident of Milton, MA. She served as the first treasurer of the Milton Republican Women’s Club. In addition, Hilda worked for the Heart Fund and Cancer Drive.
In 1980, She moved to Winslow Village in Marshfield, MA to be closer to her daughter Joan and her husband John J. Williams and their family. At the age of 103, she moved to Plymouth Crossings Assisted Living in Plymouth, MA, where she lived until moving to Southwood Nursing Home in August of 2006.
