Virginia A. (Maus) Hewitt, 85, of Mansfield died on Tuesday December 5, 2006 at the Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association in Brookline, MA. She was tne beloved wife of the late Robert M. Hewitt who died on September 29, 1964.
Born in Foxboro, MA on March 23, 1921 she was a daughter of the late Karl Oscar and Jenny (Mahlberg) Maus-Gerlach
She was educated in New York Schools. Mrs. Hewitt had worked as a secretary and as a treasurer at the Christian Scientist Mother Church in Boston for over 10 years before retiring.
Virginia was a very active member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Attleboro. When she was younger, along with her family, she performed in the entertainment business. She excelled in performing on the glass harmonica.
She will always be lovingly remembered as a humanitarian who constantly desired to help others. She had lived in Mansfield for over 50 years.
She is survived by her sister Dorothy G. “Dolly” Chaffee of Norfolk. Her brother Chester Gerlach of Wolfboro, North Carolina. She was the sister of the late Bernie, Maus Richard Maus, William Maus,Roy Maus, Conrad Gerlach and John Gerlach.Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday December 11th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Woodside Cemetery, Yarmouthport.
