Ronald D. Pine Sr., 65, of Mercer, Maine formerly of Norton and North Dighton died on Tuesday November 28, 2006 at home following a long illness. He was the fiancé of Cynthia Pine of Mercer, Maine and was the former husband of Thelma (Sylvester) Pine of Norton.
Born in North Dighton, MA on June 28, 1941 he was a son of the late Manuel A. and Mary A, (Torres) Pine.
He grew up in North Dighton and was educated in Dighton schools. As a young man Mr. Pine was a mechanic working on heavy equipment for several years. He later worked over 25 years for the Town of Norton as a supervisor in the water department before retiring in June of 2003.
Ron will be remembered as a great tinker around the house. In his spare time he loved to fish, work on machinery and be involved in building projects. He had lived in Mercer for the past 3 years and was formerly of Norton and North Dighton.
In addition to his fiancé and former wife he is survived by his three sons Ronald D. Pine, Jr. of Norton, Kenneth A. Pine of North Attleboro and Joseph Pine of Sandwich. His sister Elaine Bragg and her husband Edmund of Dighton. Also survived by his grandchildren Daniel Pine, Samantha Pine and Kylie Signore as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday December 7th from 4-7 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St.(Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
Following visitation on Thursday all are invited back to spend time together and partake in refreshments at the Lieutenant Harold A. Healy American Legion Post 85 East Main St. in Norton
A memorial service will also be held on Saturday December 9th at 11:00 A.M. at the home of Ronald D. Pine, Sr., 620 Elm St. in Mercer, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, Ron’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Memorial and Honor Program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
