Anna (Costa) Melford. Age 98. Wife of the late Anthony J. Melford. Residence 455 Brayton Ave., Somerset, formerly of 180 Fulton St., Fall River. Died Monday in Somerset at the Somerset Ridge Nursing Care Center. Born in Fall River, MA. Daughter of the late Samplis Costa and the late Mary (Alfonso) Costa. She was a resident of Somerset for the last 3 years, previously living in Fall River.Before retiring in 1970, she had worked as a Waitress at Al Mac’s Diner for 10 years. She was a member of St. Michael’s Church. She was a past member of the Holmes Apartments Senior Citizens Club and the former North End Senior Citizens Club.
She is survived by 4 Grandchildren: Gail DeSouto, Alan, Jay, and Guy Minkin and Daughter-In-law Dolores Minkin. 3 Great-grandchildren, 1 Great-great granddaughter and Several Nieces and Nephews. She was the mother of the late Lawrence Minkin. She was sister of the late Manuel “Surp” Costa, Samplis “Sam” Costa, Mary Alfonso, and Angelina Martin.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Saturday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church, Essex St. at 9 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. NEW Calling hours Friday 4-7 P.M.
