Obituary

Goliardo Fantasia, 92, of Stoneham, formerly of Somerville, died at Winchester Hospital on December 3rd following a long illness. Born in Gaeta, Italy, he was the son of the late Francesco and Maria Fantasia.

Mr. Fantasia immigrated to the United States in 1934, settling in Somerville. He graduated High School there and enrolled in the Army, serving during WWII. He married Maria C. (Testa) in 1944 and was the owner of the Highland Market in Somerville for many years.

In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves behind his son, Frank R. and his wife Jane of Winchester. He was pre-deceased by a son, Leonard Fantasia. He was the dear brother of Ondina Nardella of Gaeta, Italy and the late Elio Fantasia. He is also survived by his grandsons, Mark R. and his wife Marybeth of Marlboro and Matthew R. and his wife Julia of Wellesley. The Funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home 177 Washington St. Winchester on Wed., Dec. 6 at 9:15 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Winchester at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours are on Tues. 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Goliardo’s memory may be made to Mystic Valley Elder Services 300 Commercial St. #19 Malden, MA 02148. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Late veteran WWII U.S. Army.
