Alfred E. Morgan Sr., 96, died Wednesday, November 30th in the Beverly Manor Nursing Home in Plymouth, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Jeannette R. (Langelier) Morgan.
Born and brought up in Danbury Conn., son the late John and Alice (Smalley) Morgan, he attended Danbury schools.
He was a veteran of the United States Army WWII
Alfred was married to his wife Jeannette for over 50 years and lived in Whitman for over 40 years, until 1986, retired to Plymouth for 10 years, then lived with his daughter and son in Maine and Plymouth for the past 10 years.
He worked for the Stocker Lumber Co. in Braintree as a foreman for many years.
He was a communicant and an usher of the Holy Ghost church of Whitman .also a member of the Whitman K of C # 347 and helped out with the Boy Scout Troop 22.
In his earlier years he loved to play baseball and lately enjoyed the Red Sox.
He also enjoyed camping and playing horseshoes.
He is survived by ,his son Alfred E. Morgan, Jr. of Plymouth ,his daughter Janet Carey of Maine, his brother , Herb Morgan of Conn. ;.also five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Monday December 4th at 8:15 A.M. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, MA., followed by a funeral mass at 9:00 A.M. in the Holy Ghost Church , School Street Whitman, MA Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery ,Whitman.
