Obituary

WORCESTER-Everett E. Buxton, 76, of 10 Oak Leaf Circle formerly of 39 Volkmar Road died Thursday, September 26th in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Rita L. (Grimala) Buxton; 2 sons, Kenneth A. Buxton of Worcester and Thomas P. Buxton of Dudley; a brother, Lewis D. Buxton, Jr. of Sandwich; 2 sisters, Mary Davidson of Wells, ME and Phyllis Keeler of Isaaqua, WA; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two sons, Michael J. Buxton in 1959 and Richard M. Buxton in 1998.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Lewis D. and Mae (Carlson) Buxton and was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Buxton worked at Morgan Construction for 41 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of All Saint’s Episcopal Church and was an avid sports fan.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, October 1st at 11:30 AM in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue. Calling hours are Monday, September 30th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ric Buxton Memorial Scholarship Fund for Worcester State College c/o Central Mass Striders, Box 60002, Worcester, MA 01606-0002 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
