Obituary

WORCESTER-Francis J. Farrell, Jr., 68 of 29 Brierway Drive died Saturday, September 28th in UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus after an illness. He leaves his wife of 47 years, Janice L. (Booker) Farrell; 2 sons, Francis J. Farrell, III of Worcester, Steven M. Farrell of Grafton; a daughter, Lisa A. Gendron of Worcester; 2 brothers, John Farrell of Bellingham, James Farrell of Millbury;2 sisters, Susan Paquin and Patricia Murphy both of Worcester; a grandaughter, Marissa Gendron and a grandson, Bernard Gendron both of Worcester and many nieces and nephews.

He was born in Worcester son of Francis J. and Veronica (Balukonas) Farrell and lived here all his life. Mr. Farrell worked as a Staff Representitive for 12 years for United Steel Workers of America AFL-CIO retiring in 1999. He previously worked for Olsen Manufacturing in Holden for many years. He served as Past President of the Worcester-Framingham Labor Council for 20 years, Vice President of the Massachusetts State Labor Council AFL-CIO, he was appointed Commissioner of the Worcester Civic Center by the City Manager and he was awarded 3 keys to the city.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 1st in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. A service will take place at 7:00PM in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
