Worcester - Thomas W. Holly of Worcester, died peacefully, Sunday, November 26, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in the presence of his loved ones.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Thomas W. Holly Sr., and Faustina A. (Tuttle) Holly. Thomas leaves his daughter, Tara, wife of Keith Nevens of Grafton. His beloved son, Matthew Thomas Holly, passed away earlier this year. He also leaves his step-father, Clarence Lareau, and his sister, Paula Donahue, of Worcester; three grandchildren, Lynn Holly of Northborough, John Nelson III, and Nicholas Nevins, both of Grafton. In addition he leaves several aunts, uncles, nephews, neices, and cousins. His extended family included six step-brothers and sisters of the Lareau family, along with their spouses, children and grandchildren.
Thomas graduated from South High School, and Worcester Junior College; attending Lowell Technical Institute and Worcester State College as well. He was a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard for thirteen years. He owned and operated area restaurants and night clubs which included the Steak-Out Restaurant in Westborough, and the Charter Club in Worcester. He also worked as a survey engineer, printer, and civilian supply clerk for the National Guard. Always a sports enthusiast, he also enjoyed skiing, golfing, photography, and traveling in his younger years; becoming an avid reader and crossword puzzle master in his later years. He had a tremendous sense of humor and truly enjoyed lively discussions of current events and politics.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday December 2, in St. Charles Borromeo Church 341 June St. at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701. Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester is directing arrangements.
