Obituary

Albert E. Bradley Jr. 84 of East Walpole died suddenly November 28 in Caritas Norwood Hospital. He was the husband of Gertrude N. (Bumpus) Bradley.

Born in East Boston on January 22, 1922, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Agnes (Green) Bradley. Mr. Bradley was raised in Roslindale and had lived in Weymouth before moving to East Walpole in 1958.

Mr. Bradley had been a professional photographer all his career. He began as a photo wire operator for the Associated Press and then became a photography assistant for the Associated Press. Following World War II, he worked as a photographer for the Boston Herald and Boston Globe. Mr. Bradley also supplied photos to the Walpole Times and won the New England Press Award for one of his pictures in the Times.

Mr. Bradley served in the Navy during World War II as a naval aviator and he attained the rank of Commander. He saw action in the South Pacific and was assigned to the Carrier USS Cowpens. He was a former baseball coach of Walpole Babe Ruth Baseball and was a great story teller.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Carol Johnson of Alexandria VA, five sons, Peter of Norfolk, David of Wrentham, Paul of Alexandria, VA, Albert of Rochester, NY, and Robert Bradley of Sandwich.
He is also survived by his sister, Constance Cuoco of Walpole and 9 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Helen Morin.

His funeral will be held on Friday, December 1 from the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main St. Walpole at 8:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:00. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 p.m.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
