Gilbert B. Cordeiro. Age 80. Husband of the late Josephine (Andrade)Cordeiro. Residence 69 Jaffrey St., Swansea, MA. Died Wednesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Covoada, Sao Miguel, Azores. Son of the late Jose Benevides Cordeiro and the late Maria Conceicao (Alves)Cordeiro. He resided in Fall River for one year then in Swansea. Before retiring in 1998, he was a Dishwasher at Venus De Milo. Previously, he worked at Plymouth Rubber in Canton, MA. for 12 years. He was a member of St. John of God Church.
He is survived by One Brother: John Benevides of Tiverton, RI. One Sister: Flora Benevides of Canada. One Grandson: Derek Douglas Larrivee and Several nieces and nephews. He was also father of the late Doreen Larrivee and brother of the late Mary Souza and Georgianna Souza.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St.Saturday at 8 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave., Somerset at 9 A.M. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea. Calling hours Friday 6-8 P.M.
