NORWOOD -- Martha Amanda Berg, age 96 years, formerly of North Dartmouth, died Thursday, November 9, 2006 at Charlwell House in Norwood. She was the wife of the late Karl Johan Berg who died in 1997.
Born in Fedje, Norway, she was the daughter of the late Anders Rognsvag and Elisa Ananiasdotter Rognsvag. She came to the United States in 1951 with her children and her husband who was recognized by the US Government for his wartime service during World War II on merchant ships and American liberty transport ships, all being granted US citizenship.
A member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairhaven, she was very active in the church alter guild and the church women's group.
She is survived by her daughters, Aagot Berg of Watertown, Ma., and Kirsten Berg of Berkley, Calif.; two sons, Alfred Berg of Seattle, Wash., Erling Berg of Cape May, N.J.; a sister, Tarbovg Fjareide of Norway; eleven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will take place on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at 11 A.M. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairhaven followed by burial in So. Dartmouth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to her church at 16 Temple Place in Fairhaven, Ma. 02719.
