Stack, of Brockton and Cataumet, November 27, 2006, Margaret J. (Mahoney) Stack 90 years. Wife of the late John F. Stack. Beloved mother of Brockton City Planner Nancy Stack Savoie of Brockton, Pamela M. Stack and John F. Stack both of Miami, FL and sister of Helen McMahon of Wolfeboro, NH.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 9 am. Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Mary, Stonehill College, N. Easton at 10 am. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-7pm.

Obituary Information

Margaret J. (Mahoney) Stack 90 years of Brockton and Cataumet died Monday surrounded by her family at her winter home in Miami, Florida. Born November 28, 1915 in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late John Fitzgerald Mahoney and Josephine B. (Casey) Mahoney. She was the wife of the late John F. “Jack” Stack, well known musician and employee of the Brockton Edison company.

Mrs. Stack was a long time employee of the Brockton School Department, working as a Teacher’s aide at the former Lincoln School, the Davis elementary and later the Arnone Elementary school retiring in 1981. She was well known for her kindness and compassion for the neglected and abused children in the school system. She was a 1933 graduate of Brockton High school. Mrs. Stack worked at the Brockton Edison Company prior to her marriage having met her husband there on Valentine’s Day in 1946, following his return to the Edison Company from service in the Navy Seabee’s from the Aleutian Islands to Borneo.

Mrs. Stack was an avid reader, gardener and animal lover. “My mother’s vocabulary was astounding’ said her son Professor John F. Stack Jr. “Her love of reading and learning was inspiring and it certainly touched the lives of the students she worked with”, Stack said.

Mrs. Stack is survived by her children Pamela M. Stack and John F. Stack both of Miami, Florida, and Brockton City Planner Nancy Stack Savoie of Brockton, a sister Helen McMahon of Wolfeboro, NH, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Catherine Sweinimer of Marshfield.
