Corey Jay Worsham, 20, of Chester, NH died Sunday evening, November 26, 2006 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident on State Route 121 in Hampstead, NH. He was born in Exeter, NH on August 17, 1986, a son of Rick and Sharon (Dankowski) Worsham. He was currently a sophomore in Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH. Corey was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH in 2005.While a student there, he was an avid varsity soccer and lacrosse player for the Astros. He continued playing soccer and was a midfielder for the Colby Sawyer Chargers team. In his youth he played in the Raymond Recreation travel and youth Soccer programs, where he became known as a tenacious force on the field with the heart of a lion. He also played both soccer and baseball for Chester Academy.
Corey had many interests and was an accomplished musician and bass player for the group “Last Day’s of May”. He also volunteered his time as a DJ for multiple fundraisers at the Chester Girls Basketball and Softball programs and dedicated this past year to helping others as a crisis “Hope” counselor at Colby Sawyer College. He had a love of outdoor sports and spent much of his time teaching young athletes as a snowboarding instructor at Mount Sunapee. He was a member of St. Paul’s parish in Candia.
Corey's life was all about his family and friends and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Corey lived each day to the fullest, sharing his love with all those close to him. His love was unending and has touched many hearts.
In addition to his parents of Chester, he is survived by a brother, Derek Worsham of Chester; two sisters, Ashlee Worsham of Chester and Dawn Worsham of Victorville, CA; maternal grandparents John and Molly Dankowski of San Dimas CA and Tarzan and Ronnie Dann Honors also of San Dimas, CA; his paternal grandfather, Howard Worsham of Walters, OK; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his paternal grandmother, Melba Jean Kyle and paternal great grandmother, Edna Worsham.
Calling hours were held on Thursday, November 30, 2006 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, Dec. 1st at 10 AM in St. Peter Church, 567 Manchester Rd., Auburn, NH. Burial followed in Great Hill Cemetery, Chester.
