Obituary

Audrey Whitley Dorminy, 94, of Fitzgerald died Saturday night at the Southern Senior Living Personal Care Home in Douglas.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, November 29, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Ken Ross, Rev. Kelly Brown, Rev. Ernest Harper and Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dorminy was born July 22, 1912, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Thomas Jacob and Olive Harper Whitley. She was a retired Elementary School Teacher, having taught in Jacksonville, FL, Ocilla and Fitzgerald. She graduated from the Martha Berry School in Rome and received her college education from South Georgia College and the University of Florida. Mrs. Dorminy also was a representative for World Book Encyclopedia. She was a member of the Ben Hill-Irwin Retired Educators Association, the United Daughters of The Confederacy, and the Gateway Garden Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Bethany Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Dorminy is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Sandra and Charles Williamson of Douglas; son and daughter-in-law: Dr. Larry and Dona Jean Dorminy of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Hanes Dorminy, Jr., two brothers and two sisters.
