RAYNHAM — Fiorangelo “Maxie” Morrone, 85, of Raynham, formerly of Brockton, died Wednesday at Morton Hospital in Taunton. He was the husband of Angelina (Picanzo) Morrone.
Born, raised and educated in Middleboro, he had lived in Brockton for many years, before moving to Raynham.
Mr. Morrone served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a tree surgeon for 20 years for the commonwealth of Massachusetts, retiring 20 years ago.
Mr. Morrone was also a bartender at the Westgate Lounge and Carleton House, both in Brockton, and the Riviera in Bridgewater.
He was a little league coach and also played semi-pro football, both in Middleboro.
Mr. Morrone was an avid golfer and enjoyed casinos, karaoke and bowling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, David Morrone of Freetown and Bruce Morrone of New Gloucester, Maine; his stepchildren, Debra Rose of Easton and Charles Southworth of Randolph; two sisters, Carmella Pimental of Coventry, R.I., and Angeline Facciano of Fall River; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was also brother to the late Mary Abren and Margaret Falconeiri.
His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 in St. Ann’s Church, West Bridgewater. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
