Hazel Sellers Cook, 83, of Fitzgerald died Friday morning, November 24 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 27 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Charlie Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cook was born September 16, 1923, in Andalusia, Alabama, to the late John and Martha Barnes Sellers, the last child born of eleven siblings. She was a former employee of Fitzgerald Underwear and Irwin Manufacturing. She was a former nurses’ aide at Life Care Center and also sat with the elderly. She was a member of the former Callie Garbutt Baptist Church.
Mrs. Cook is survived by three sons and two daughters and their spouses: Eugene & Sue Barnes of Marianna, FL, John & Kathy Barnes of Panama City, FL; Hazel & James Dean, Shellia & Ron Flesher, and Albert & Laura Cook all of Fitzgerald; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Albert Cook, a great-great-grandson, Hunter Lane Scarbary and ten brothers and sisters.
