Doris E. (Perkins) Lamb, age 86, of 99 Lambtown Road, Ledyard, died Wednesday evening at Mariner Healthcare at Pendleton in Mystic where she had been a resident for the past two weeks.
Mrs. Lamb was born in Groton on June 3, 1916 the daughter of John E. and Mary T. (Perkins) Lamb. She graduated from Stonington High School in 1935.
She was employed as a postal clerk at the Gales Ferry and Ledyard Post Offices for several years, retiring in 1978.
Doris was a member of the Ledyard Congregational Church, the Ledyard Grange #167, and was one of the first officers of the Ledyard Volunteer Fire Company's Ladies Auxillary.
She was married to Earl T. Lamb Sr. in Preston on October 12, 1935. He died September 3, 1987.
She leaves her children, Earl T. Lamb Jr., Robert A. Lamb, Helen L. Bliven, Marion L. Singer, and Amy Richards., 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a great-grandaughter, 3 brothers, and a sister.
Doris's family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday evening from 6-8pm. A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted at Lambtown Cemetery on Saturday at 1:30pm with the Rev. Mobby Larson, pastor of Ledyard Congregational Church, officiating. A reception will follow at Doris's home immediately following the service.
