Mariano F. Correia, 48, died at home in Lakeville on Tuesday, November 21 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Filomena M. (Furtado) Correia. Born and educated in San Miguel, Azores, Portugal, Mr. Correia was a resident of Lakeville for 4 years. He previously lived in Stoughton for 8 years and Somerville for several years. He was a painter for many years. Mr. Correia was a member of Club Luis de Camoes, San Joao Philharmonic Society and the Portuguese National Club all in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife Mr. Correia is survived by his children, Michael R. Correia and Nellie M. Correia both of Lakeville and his granddaughter, Yecilia A. Gonzalez. He was the son of Mariano M. Correia of Azores, Portugal and the late Maria Jose (Faria). He was the brother of Alvaro Correia, Jose Luis Correia and Carlos Correia all of Somerville and Mario Correia of Tewksbury. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, November 25 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.
