Eric Cook, 19, of Ocilla died Monday, November 20, 2006 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Friday, November 24, at the Irwin County High School Gym with Rev. John Gibbs Jr., and Rev. Jim Osborn officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Irwin County. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Eric was born November 25, 1986, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He lived all his life in Irwin County, graduating from Irwin County High School in 2005. He was a Telecommunications student at East Central Technical College. Eric was a former employee of Dill’s Ace Hardware, Sherwin-Williams and Cook’s Home Repair. He was a member of Ocilla United Methodist Church and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church. Eric was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of Hunters Creek Hunting Club. He was a loving and giving person, even in death by being an organ donor.
He is survived by his parents: Roger & Lisa Giddens Cook of Ocilla; sister: Morgan Cook of Murfreesboro, TN; maternal grandmother: Frances Bradford of Ocilla; paternal grandmother: Essie Cook of Fitzgerald; great aunt: Hazel Green of Gray; many relatives and friends. Eric was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Earl Cook, Vernon Giddens and Bill Bradford.
Memorials may be made to the Ocilla United Methodist Church Youth Ministry or to the Bethlehem Baptist Church Youth Ministry.
