Ethel M.(Leary) Cox, 93, died Monday in the Brockton hospital, after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Louis O. Cox.
Born in Fall River, and brought up in Abington she was the daughter of the late Michael and Ada (Reed) Leary. She was a graduate of Abington High School, class of 1930.
Ethel has been a Whitman resident for many years, she worked as a supervisor at the Commonwealth Shoe Company in Whitman and for many years as an accounting clerk at the King Size Company in Brockton.
Ethel was a member of the United Church of Christ in Abington, where she was the past president of the Good Fellowship Club. She was also a member of the Lady’s Winthrop Lodge of Abington, past noble grand and past district deputy president of the Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by her son and two daughters, Richard M. Cox of Hull, Lois E. Ferrara of Quincy and Cynthia C. Brown of Whitman; also her very good friend Joyce Lawson of Whitman; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was also the sister of the late Gladys Cook.
Funeral services will be held Monday November 27th at 11:00 A.M. in Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street, (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Mt Vernon Cemetery, Abington.
