Obituary

Pamela Miles (Stowell) Single, 85, of Mattapoisett died at home on Wednesday November 15, 2006. Pam was born on Walpole, Massachusetts, daughter of Raymond Miles Stowell and Louise Coggeshall Stowell. She was the widow of James L. Single. She is survived by her sister, Anne H. Stowell, with whom she resided for the past 40 years. She was the sister of the late Jean Stowell Ham.

Pam owned and operated Boutique, a women's clothing store on the waterfront in Mattapoisett, for over 25 years. She retired in the mid 1980's and many people have fond memories of Pam and her seaside shop.

She was a former Girl Scout leader, member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Mattapoisett Congregational Church, the Mattapoisett Historical Society and was a volunteer for FISH. During World War II, she served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

In addition to her sister Anne, she is survived by her nieces Louise Rogers, Elizabeth Kunz, and Kathryn Dinneen, all of Mattapoisett, and Martha Kabacoff of Boulder, Colorado. She is also survived by 6 grandnieces, 2 grandnephews, and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews.


The family held a private service on Sunday, November 19th. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be sent to Southcoast Hospice at 28 Sconticut Neck Road, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
