Obituary

Chelmsford, MA – Eleanor B. (Bent) Doiron Gilman, 85 years old, died on November 20, 2006 in Chelmsford at the home of her son, Robert. Born Eleanor Bent in Lawrence, Massachusetts, she was a 1939 graduate of Lawrence High School and for a long time resided on Tower Hill in Lawrence and most recently North Andover.
She was a current member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church of North Andover and a former member of the Grace Church in Lawrence. For a number of years, Mrs. Gilman was a special education aide at the A.B. Bruce School on Tower Hill in Lawrence.
Eleanor loved her summers at Hampton Beach, NH, and spent over 55 years in the Greenlands section of North Hampton. She is remembered there as an avid whist player who in her eighties took up the challenge of learning to play bridge. Eleanor also enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of a group of women from Tower Hill that played cards every Tuesday for over 40 years.
Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was the widow of Robert J. Doiron. She and Bob were married for 36 years and are remembered as excellent ballroom dancers. After ten years as a widow, she married Ralph Gilman of Methuen. They were married for six years before she was widowed a second time. She is survived by her son Robert C. & his wife Mary-Frances Doiron of Chelmsford, two grandchildren, Sarah E. and Matthew P. Doiron both of Chelmsford, one niece and four nephews.
A Funeral Service will take place on Friday morning November 24 at 10 o’clock from the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen with burial to follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence.
Friends may call on Wednesday November 22 from 2-4 P.M. & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
