Barbara M. Heineman, 72, of Ledyard passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2006 after an extended illness.
Born December 8, 1933, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Nora (Lyons) LaMarche.
She graduated from St. Catherine's Academy in New York City and attended Hunter College. She worked for Prentice-Hall and JP Morgan. She moved to Groton in 1957. After staying home and raising her four children for twelve years, she went to work for H & R Block as a manager of the Groton office before becoming the finance director of the Town of Ledyard for 14 years. She last worked at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum. She was a long-standing member of the Groton Business and Professional Women's Club.
Barbara is survived by her husband, John C. Stacey; her two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Merri Heineman of Norwich, Thomas Heineman and Chieko Yamasaki of Montague MA; her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Heineman and Martin Regan of Wallingford; her son-in-law Kenneth Beaudry of Glastonbury; her two step-sons, John and his wife Beth Stacey, and William Stacey; her two brothers William and Robert LaMarche, and her two sisters Lorraine LaVigna and Janice McCullough as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Diane Beaudry and her brother Charles LaMarche.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Sunday from 4-6pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, E. Main Street, Mystic on Monday at 10am. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
