Philip Smith, 80, of Dartmouth died Monday November 20, 2006 at the Oaks Nursing Home.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Ambrose and Nora (Sparrow) Smith, he lived in New Bedford most of his life until moving to Dartmouth 14 years ago.
He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Mr. Smith was formerly employed as a fisherman aboard various vessels out of the Port of New Bedford until his retirement.
He was a member of the New Bedford Fishermen's Union.
Survivors include two brothers, Rev. Msgr. John J. Smith and Michael Smith, both of Fairhaven; two sisters, Sr. Mary Nora, R.S.M. and Patricia Manning, both of New Bedford; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was the brother of the late James J. Smith, Robert Smith, Ambrose V. Smith, Nora Feener, and Julia Gamba.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
