Evelyn Bernard, 102, of Franklin, NH, died Monday, November 20, 2006 in the Mountain Ridge Healthcare Center in Franklin. Mrs. Bernard was born in Methuen, MA on August 25, 1904, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Nettie Wheeler. She was a graduate of Nashua High School, Nashua, NH, Class of 1925. She was a resident of Franklin since 1994, formerly living in Derry, NH. She had also lived in California and Florida, but had always considered New Hampshire her home, having spent most of her life in Southern New Hampshire. Mrs. Bernard had been a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Lester Chase Post #9 in Derry since her husband’s death.
She is survived by her son, Herbert S. Hartwell II of Clearwater, FL; her daughter, Marilyn Campbell of Westlake Village, CA; seven grandsons, and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Joseph R. Bernard in 1983.
There were no calling hours. Private burial was in the East Cemetery in Hollis, NH. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry handled the arrangements.
