Cesario DeBarros, 77, of New Bedford died Wednesday September 25, 2002 at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation for New Bedford after a long illness. He was the husband of Amelia (Pina) DeBarros, and son of the late Joao and Notchinha DeBarros.
Mr. DeBarros was born in Fogo, Cape Verde and had lived in Fogo before moving to New Bedford in 1982.
Mr. DeBarros was the proprietor of a store in Fogo, and later worked for Columbia Cable Company in New Bedford.
He was an avid soccer fan.
Survivors include his wife; 9 sons, Natalio DeBarros, Francisco "Frank" DeBarros, Agnelo DeBarros, Damiaõ DeBarros, Daniel DeBarros, Felipe DeBarros, Jose DeBarros and Estevao "Steve" DeBarros, all of New Bedford and Antonio DeBarros of South Dartmouth; 3 daughters, Antonia DeBarros of Praia, Cape Verde, Laura DeBarros of Canada, and Maria "Tchica" DaSilveira of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Agusto DeBarros and Jose Correia, both of Portugal; 2 sisters, Nezinha DeBarros of Portugal and Lulu DeBarros of Fogo; 25 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford,Saturday, September 28, 2002 at 8 AM.Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday, September 27, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
