
WORCESTER-Petro Papalilo, 87, of 1002 Pleasant Street, died Saturday, November 18th, in UMass-Memorial Hospital. His wife, Marika (Koloyas) Papalilo, died in 1999. He leaves 2 daughters, Yolanda, wife of John Poulo, with whom he lived and Marina, wife of Vangel Mitre; a brother, Taki Papalilo; 2 sisters, Margarita, wife of Emanuel Binici and Aglaya Papa, all of Worcester; 4 grandchildren, Peter and Elaine Poulo, and George and Marika Mitre; nephews and nieces, Taso and John Binici, Cynthia Topuzi, Bessie Isildakli, Flora Savidis, Paul Papalilo and Anna Boyatzi. A brother, Ilia Papalilo, died in 1984.
He was born in Leskovic, Permet, Albania, the son of Apostol and Flora (Javaras) Papalilo and moved to Istanbul, Turkey in 1938. While there, he owned and operated a restaurant. In 1969, he moved to Worcester and was a baker at Table Talk Pie Co. for 15 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. Papalilo was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and enjoyed gardening, flowers and cooking.
The funeral is Tuesday, November 21st, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 11:00 A.M. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday, November 20th, in the funeral home.
