SALEM, NH – Cornelius Robert Bowlby age 85 of Salem, NH died Monday November 13, 2006 at Salem Haven Nursing Home.
Born in Somerville, MA July 27, 1921 son of Emma (Lundgren and Roger E. Bowlby, he graduated from Huntington Preparatory School and Burdette Business School, both of Boston, MA.
Robert was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 until 1945. He co-owned and successfully operated C.R. Bowlby and Sons Movers of Somerville, MA. After raising his family in Arlington, MA, he and his wife Ruth lived in Salem, NH and spent many happy years in retirement at homes in Hudson, FL and Moultonboro, NH. According to his family, Robet had a wonderful sense of humor and very kind heart. He adored his wife and family, his church and his country.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Ruth (Clark) Bowlby of Salem, NH.
2 daughters Carol Caldwell and her husband Ray of Eagle, Idaho and Suzanne Young and her husband Paul of Manchester, NH.
1 son Roger Bowlby and his wife Sherre of Salem, NH.
8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimers Association 311 Arsenal St. Watertown, MA 02472. Family and friends may gather on Saturday at 10:30a.m. with a memorial service at 11:00a.m.
