Mary (Pechkis) Murphy, 99 of Franklin died November 16, 2006 in Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles Murphy.
Born in Farmington, Maine, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Lakicut) Pechkis, Mrs. Murphy was raised in Farmington and had lived in Boston and Weymouth for many years before moving to Franklin 20 years ago.
Mrs. Murphy had been a portrait colorist at the Miller Studios in Quincy for many years and had previously worked for the Jordan Marsh Company. Mrs. Murphy had been a volunteer at the Franklin Library. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and sewing.
Mrs. Murphy was the mother of the late Ronald P. Hodgkins. She is survived by her grandchildren, Bonnie Hodgkins of Franklin, Holly Leonard of Franklin, Pamela McCann of Foxboro, Mary Ann Shirley of Johnston, Rhode Island, Heather Achin of Wrentham and Ronald P. Hodgkins II of Ramstead Air Force Base Germany. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday November 18 in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St., Franklin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
