Worcester- Ellen E. (Murphy) Courville, 78, of 298 Massasoit Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, in St. Vencent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, after an illness.
Her husband, Edward E. Courville, died in 1980. She leaves three sons, Bruce E. Courville of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Brian J. Courville of Falmouth, and Barry M. Courville of Worcester; a daughter, Ann M. Hancock of Millbury; a brother, Bernard J. "Barney" Murphy of Worcester; three sisters, Carol Ford of Auburn, Maureen Stacy of Millbury, and Joyce Murphy of Oxford; 12 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph P. and Eva (LeDoux) Murphy and lived here all her life. She graduated from St. Peter Marian High School.
Mrs. Courville was a longtime member of St. Stephen's Catholic Parish, and the Greendale YMCA, where she was an avid swimmer.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home (www.worcesterfuneral.com), with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, in the funeral home.
