Obituary

Norma A. Sabella, 74, of Derry, NH died November 14, 2006 at her home following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Sabella was born in Verdun Quebec, Canada on February 18, 1932, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Sample) Weatherbee. After graduating from MacDonald College she was a teacher in Montreal, Canada before serving in the Canadian Navy during the Korean War era. She married Joseph Sabella on December 27, 1956 and lived in St. Louis, MO before moving to Derry in 1967. She was a member of the Derry School Board for nine years, a State Representative for six years and a Library Trustee. She was always passionate about protecting children, women and gay rights.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Sabella of Derry, one son, Paul Sabella of Derry, two daughters, Mrs. Marion Scichilone of Bothell, WA, Mrs. Margaret Chanthavong of Bloomington, MN, one grandchild, her sister, Mrs. R.G. Luxton of Beaconsfield, Quebec, Canada, also several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday November 20, 2006 at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. Calling hours were Sunday from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
