Mary M. (Malone) McDonnell, 73, of New Bedford died Sunday November 12, 2006 at New Bedford Health Care Center after a brief illness. She was the wife of Leonard P. McDonnell.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Jennings) Malone, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. McDonnell was formerly employed as a registered nurse on the Lumbard Unit at St. Luke's Hospital before becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for Dr. William R. Collins and Dr. Bernard Portnoy until her retirement in 2003.
She was a graduate of Holy Family High School, class of 1950, St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1953 and completed the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program at Northeastern University.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Leonard M. McDonnell of New Bedford; two daughters, Kathleen J. Lowney of Mattapoisett and Joanne McDonnell; a sister, Martha Stykowski of St. Petersburg, FL; two granddaughters, Kayla and Meghan; a great-grandson, Jack; several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Patrick Malone.
