Obituary

Atty. Daniel P. David, 87, of New Bedford died Wednesday September 25, 2002 at the Oaks Nursing Home after a long illness. He was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Jabour) David.

Atty. David was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for all of his life. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Providence College and Boston University School of Law.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Purgatory Church.

Atty. David maintained a private law practice in New Bedford for 55 years until his retirement. He had also served as Assistant City Solicitor under Mayor Edward F. Harrington.

Atty. David was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, the Bristol County Bar Association, the Rent Control Board and the Board of Realtors. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy .

Survivors include his longtime friend and caregiver, Della Sheerin of New Bedford; a sister, Ramie David of New Bedford; an aunt, Mary D. David of New Bedford; 3 nieces, Hertha Farris, Elaine David, and Rose David, all of New Bedford; a grandniece, Audrey Carey of Seattle, WA; a great-grandniece, Dakota Carey, of Seattle; several cousins in New Bedford and Lebanon; and many friends.He was the brother of the late Marianna Farris, Rose David, and Josephine P. David.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordSaturday September 28, 2002 at 9 AM.Divine Liturgy at Our Lady of Purgatory Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Friday September 27, 2002 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
