Obituary

FALL RIVER … Rene O. Chouinard, 88, of Fall River, died Tuesday November 14, 2006.
He was the husband of Florence O. (Beaulieu) Chouinard.
He was born in Fall River, December 7, 1917, a son of the late Ferdinand and Marie A. (Labonte) Chouinard and had been a life long resident of Fall River.
He was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Eastern Ave., Fall River, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.
He worked at the Newport Naval Base for 32 years retiring in 1972.
Mr. Chouinard was an Army veteran of W.W.II where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and was in the Battle of the Bulge. While in the army he received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. He enjoyed working with his hands doing carpentry. He was a member of NAFRE Chapter 115 (National Association of Federal Retiree Employees).
Survivors include his wife a son Donald R. Chouinard and his wife June of Fall River a daughter Claire M. Rogers and her husband Richard W. of Fall River, 3 brothers: Roger Chouinard of Tequesta, FL, Alban Chouinard and Robert Chouinard both of Fall River, 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He as the brother of the late Alcide Chouinard and Yvette Bienvenue.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday AT 8AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River (508-672-0291) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, 529 Eastern Ave. at 10 AM. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Thursday 5 – 8 PM. W.W. II Army Veteran. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care, 502 Bedford Street, Fall River, MA 02720.
