Philip W. Silva III, a 30 year resident of Bridgewater, died Nov. 12, 2006 at the Morton Hospital in Taunton after a long illness. He was 72.
A son of the late Philip W. II & Grace (Carroll) Silva, he was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Boston, Class of 1952.
He was also a graduate of Bridgewater State College with a Masters Degree in Education.
Mr. Silva served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a teacher in the Brockton Public School System for 35 years, retiring in 1994. He taught History at the West Junior High School.
He was a member of the Vets Club in Bridgewater, & enjoyed reading & politics.
He was the beloved husband of the late Audrey (Perrault) Silva. Father of Philip W. Silva IV & Lisa J. King both of Middleboro, Susan F. Sullivan of Hopkington, Christopher C. Silva of Bridgewater & Nancy L. Cushman of East Bridgewater. Brother of Robert G. Silva of Revere, & the late Mary Marcos. Also survived by 17 grandchildren & his companion Phyllis D. Oakley of Fla.
His funeral will be held from the Prophett funeral home 98 Bedford St. (RT 18), Bridgewater, on Friday at 8:15AM. Followed by a Funeral mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 9:00AM.
Burial will be in ST. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9PM.
