Marblehead: Alphonso Maiellano age 92 died Monday, November 13, 2006, at his home, following a long illness. He was the husband of Ingeborg (Schwendtner) Maiellano.
Born in East Boston, he was the son of the late Frank and A. Marietta (Pelosi) Maiellano. At the age of 16 he and his brother founded the Milano Re-Tanning Co. of Boston while he continued his studies at Northeastern Law School. Following his graduation and passing the bar, he became the general manager of the Capezio Shoe Co. He eventually acquired the Capezio company as well as Matinee, Inc. of Lynn and The Stage Door of Boston. Mr. Maiellano retired from Capezio in 1974. He has been a resident of Marblehead and member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish since 1957.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Diane Horgan and her husband Jack of Thousand Oaks, CA, Janice Guide and her husband David of Marblehead, 10 grandchildren: Jay Horgan & his wife Maggy, Laura Horgan, Adrienne Guide, Alex Guide & his wife Lisa, Gabrielle Stachera & her husband Michael, Dede Forgione, Dr. Marc Forgione & his wife Dr. Barbara Forgione, Michael Mucci & his wife Trish, Pam Tayco & her husband Juan, Lisa McNealy & her husband Jim. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Diana L. Maiellano, a daughter Mae Forgione and a son Pat Mucci.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral mass on Wednesday, Novmeber 15, 2006 at 12 noon in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead. Burial will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are by the Levesque Funeral Home of Salem.
