TEWKSBURY: Susan C. (Hartigan) Springer, age 88, a resident of Tewksbury for 20 years, died Sunday, November 12, 2006 at Saints Medical Center in Lowell.
She was the wife of Joseph A. Springer, who died in 1982.
Born in Lowell on December 13, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Bridget (O’Looney) Hartigan.
Mrs. Springer was raised in Lowell.
She attended Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School.
Prior to her retirement in 1982, she and her late husband owned and operated of Patapsco Liquor Store in Baltimore, Maryland. In her early years, she was employed as a secretary by the Lowell Sun Newspaper
Mrs. Springer resided in Maryland for 30 years, until moving to Tewksbury in1986.
She was a communicant of St. William’s Parish of Tewksbury.
Mrs. Springer was a former member of the Oblate Mission Group and the Tewksbury Golden Age Club.
She is survived by one sister; Margaret Doherty of N. Chelmsford; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mrs. Springer was the sister of the late John Hartigan, Theresa Hartigan, Mary A. Dean, Msgr. Edward F. Hartigan, Thomas J. Hartigan, Rita M. Kennedy, Eileen Wilson, Joseph G. Hartigan and Lawrence P. Hartigan.
Calling hours Wednesday, November 15th from 5-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Thursday, November 16th at 10:30 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. Donations in her memory to the Oblate Novitiate, 486 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 are requested.
