Anne R. Halligan 93 years died Sunday at St. Joseph Manor after a period of failing health. Born and raised in Brighton, daughter of the late William H. and Catherine (O’Neill) Halligan, she was a graduate of Brighton High School and had been employed as a Social Worker for the City of Boston.
Anne was a member of the Altar Guild of St. Aidan’s in Brookline, as well as a lector and daily communicant for 50 years. She had been a volunteer at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for ten years and worked at the front desk at St. Elizabeth’s. She had been a resident of Newton for 11 years and had spent the last three years in Brockton. She was an expert in needlework, loved crossword puzzles and scrabble. She enjoyed the Boston Symphony, traveling and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a loving participant in the lives of her many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by 12 nieces and nephews, and many great and great great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John T., William H., James F., Mary Louka, Margaret L. Keane, Sr. Catherine Gertrude Halligan OP and Eleanor F. Halligan.
