
ROBERTA (HARDY) PITCHER, of Hingham, died on Tuesday, Oct. 31st at the Cohasset Knoll Nursing Home in Cohasset. She was 94. Mrs. Pitcher was born in Boston and was a lifelong resident of Hingham. She graduated from Hingham High School in 1928 and then from Wheaton College in Norton, MA in 1932. Prior to her marriage in 1935, Mrs. Pitcher was a teacher in the Hingham Public School System. She was a member of the Hingham Yacht Club, the Cohasset Golf Club and was an active volunteer with the Hingham Visiting Nurse Association.
Wife of the late Donald F. Pitcher, she leaves her son, Donald F. Pitcher, Jr. and his wife Shirley of Hingham; and her daughter, Jane P. Wheeler and her husband Grant of Christmas Cove, Maine. She was the grandmother of Donald F. Pitcher, III, Sara H. Pitcher, William C. Ackerman, II, Robert T. Ackerman and Elisabeth R. Dufault. Also survived by her great grand-children; Molly J. Ackerman, Caroline R. Ackerman, William C. Ackerman, III, Leo T. Ackerman, Megan R. Dufault and Justin P. Dufault.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Monday, Nov. 20th at 2 PM at the Hingham Congregational Church, 378 Main St. (Rt. 228), Hingham, MA 02043.
Visiting hours and flowers omitted by family request. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Hingham Congregational Church.
The interment is to be private.
