LOWELL—Joseph F. Lawrence, 81 years old, a longtime resident of Lowell, died Friday September 13th, at the Wentworth Nursing Care Center, He was the husband of Hazel B. (Abreu) Lawrence, who survives him.
He was born in Lowell, on April 12, 1921, a son of the late Francis R. and Delfina (Lawrence) Lawrence, and was a graduate fo Lowell High School.
Mr. Lawrence was a U.S. Army Veteran during World War II, and served in the 314th 79th Division. He saw action in Normandy, France, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a prisoner of war from January 20, 1945 until May 2, 1945. Upon his discharge, he had been employed as a Plastics Controller, in Lowell.
Surviving him besides his loving wife are several nieces and nephews.
