Obituary

Edith (Freedman) Rubin, a lifelong resident of Chelsea, died on November 10, 2006. She was 85 years old.

Born and raised in Chelsea, the daughter of the late Samuel and Anna (Soltz) Freedman, Edith was educated in the Chelsea Schools and a graduate of Chelsea High School and the Mansfield Beauty Academy. In addition to dedicating her life to he family, Edith was also a hairdresser for many years. She was a life member of the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home Auxiliary, the Shurtleff St. Synagogue and their Sisterhood, and the Chelsea Hebrew School.

Wife of the late Max M. Rubin, Edith was the mother of Cynthia M. Ringer and her husband Mark of Chelsea and Alan J. Rubin and his wife Shellee of Peabody. She was the grandmother of Dr. Amy & Benjamin Donovan, Emily Jean Rubin, and Jillian Page Rubin and the great-grandmother of Max Theodore Donovan. Edith was also the sister of the late Sarah Cooperstein and Sydney Freedman.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Agudos Shalom Cemetery, 232 Fuller St. Everett. Those wishing to remember Edith may do so through memorial donations to East Pointe Nursing Care Center, 255 Central Ave. Chelsea, MA 02150.
