Wayland Dean Hill, Sr age 82 of Water Valley, Ms died Sunday morning, November 12, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital N-MS in Oxford, MS. The son of the late Alfred Bennette Hill, Sr. and Vattie Vearl Hensley Hill, he was a self-employed Brick Mason, served his country in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Water Valley, MS.
Visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday evening, November 14, 2006. Funeral Services will be held in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 with Rev. Ken Corley and Rev. Barry Dickerson officiating. The committal will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery with Robbie Parsons, Jerry Wilbourn, Ben Hill, Tyler Hill, Ronnie Hill, David Childress, Steven Hill and Ricky Hill serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Gil McMahen, Rayford Wilbourn and Buster Jackson.
Mr. Hill is survived by his daughter Deborah Ann Hill of Ocean Springs, MS; son Wayland D. Hill, Jr. and his wife Glenda of Vicksburg, MS; brothers, Edwin Earl Hill and wife Betty of Water Valley, MS, Thomas Franklin "Tommy" Hill and wife Toni of Water Valley, MS and Jerry Wayne Hill and wife Rosa Ruth of Water Valley, MS and three grandsons, Wayland Dean Hill III and Joshua Allen Hill both of Vicksburg, MS and Justin Chandler of Water Valley, MS.
Along with his parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Ann Hill (October 26, 2006); two sisters, Mary Lou Hill Childress and Betty Ann Hill Williams; three brothers, Alfred Bennette Hill, Jr (Died in WWII) Bobby Hensley Hill and Billy Jack Hill.
