DATELINE-Worcester- Anthony R Hober 83 of 10 Bayberry Lane died September 22nd in UMass-Memorial Hospital, Memorial Campus.
He is survived by his wife of fifty five years, Isabelle B (Vaitkunas) Hober. A son Anthony R Hober Jr. of Melrose, a daughter Diane I Weskalnies of Lafeyette Colorado, a brother Jacob Hober Pittsburgh Pa. Four grandchildren nieces and nephews. A brother and a sister predeceased him.
Mr. Hober was born in Pittsburg a son of Andrew and Rose (Koziol) Hober, following a twenty one year career in the Army he worked as a Corporate Security Officer for Bank of New England in Boston, for eitghteen years. He lived in Stoneham and moved to Worcester in 1984. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and served as a career Army Officer retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonal in 1963. While in the Army , LtCol Hober was the Comandant of Company Support Group, and was stationed in Iceland, Panama, Austria and Panmunjon Korea at the 38th parallel. He also served as the Army Liason Officer with the U S Air Force at Topsham Air Force Base , Maine.
He was a graduate of Babson College in Wellsley, Class of 1966. A longtime member of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish, he served as a Eucheristic Minister and was a former member of the First Friday Club and had been active in other parish activities. He was a 4th Degree Member of Cardinal Wright Assembly Knights of Columbus in Auburn, The Auburn Lodge of Elks, The Retired Officers Association, Worcester Chapter, and the Polish American Veterans of World War II Inc.
The funeral will be held Thursday September 26th from The Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home 33 Ward Street (www.worcesterfuneral.com) Worcester with a Mass at 10am in Saint Charles Borromeo Church 341 June Street. Burial will follow in The Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.Calling hours at the funeral home are from 4 to 7pm Wednesday September 25th.

Members of The Polish American Veterans of World War II Inc.will meet in the funeral home at 6:30pm on Wednesday September 25th to conduct their ritual.
