Obituary

Norfolk—Robert C. Bean 79, of Norfolk and a former longtime resident of Needham died Friday, November 10, 2006 at home following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Alma Louise (Atwood) Bean who died in 1964.
Born in Dorchester, August 14, 1927 a son of the late Carlton F. and Thelma I. (Redding) Bean he was a resident of Needham for over 65 years before moving to Norfolk several years ago.
He was educated in Needham schools and was a 1945 graduate of Needham High School. He also attended Northeastern University.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; he attained the rank of Corporal and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), and was honorably discharged in October of 1956.
Following his service to his country, he worked for many years for Diamond Auto Sales in Waltham as a sales representative and also worked for several area automobile dealers in the area until his retirement.
He enjoyed Jazz music, his dogs, going to the beach, fishing and enjoyed having new cars, going to car shows, and NASCAR, he also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and his great-granddaughter.
He is survived by a daughter, Debra Crowley of Norfolk, and 3 grandchildren and his great-granddaughter.
His funeral service and interment are private.
