Thomas P. Burke, a retired Sergeant with the Boston Police Department, died on Thursday November 9th at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was 65 years old. Born in New York, Mr. Burke grew up in Brighton. He was a resident of Needham for 30 years and also had a home in Dennis for the last 20 years. He was a member of the Boston Police Dept. for 35 years, until his retirement 3 years ago. Early in his career he was assigned to the Mounted Unit for 10 years. Mr. Burke was an avid golfer. The beloved husband of Elaine (Waters), he was the loving father of Susan M. and her husband Daniel Harrington of Westwood, Thomas P. Jr. and Daniel J. Burke both of Brighton. Brother of Peter Burke of Seminole, FL, John Burke of Venice, FL, David Burke of Reading, Patricia Fillmore of Boxford and the late James Burke. Dear grandfather of Kathleen, Lauren and Timothy Harrington. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Monday Nov. 13th at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Private burial in Dennis will be held at a later date. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 PM.
